Readers Lounge closed from Monday 28 July

We'll be upgrading the foyer exhibition space over coming weeks. The upgraded space and technology will help us to create more engaging exhibitions and displays about Queensland history.

Unfortunately, while this work is being done, we'll have to close access to the Readers Lounge and Courtyard from Monday 28 July to Friday 8 August 2025. Throughout the construction period you'll not be able to store food and drink, or access the kitchen facilities, in the Readers Lounge. You'll still be able to access the public toilets, lockers and security desk in the foyer area.

You're welcome to store bottled water in the lockers during your visit; however, please keep food outside the building – this helps us keep insects and other pests away from the collection. There are number of lovely shaded outdoor areas to sit and enjoy lunch or a snack. There are also cafés and restaurants within walking distance (750m), and many more in nearby Calamvale and Sunnybank Hills.
